Galactic50: Day 15 Crater Lake, Oregon
I had about an 6 hour drive ahead of me, leaving Washington but my excitement level was high. Clear skies is the forecast for Crater Lake in Oregon and I can't wait to get there. My drive through Washington into Oregon was uneventful and I arrived with plenty time to find a camp and setup before heading out.I got setup and headed off to Crater Lake for sunset. Crater Lake, was formed over 7,700 years ago and is America's deepest lake. Also is the fifth oldest national park. Its blue waters are so blue you can see the purity of it. The park is in good shape, despite some road construction going on in a small section of the park. Sunset was really pretty even with out a cloud in the sky and my anticipation for a good night was starting to grow even more.
My favorite part of the park are these amazing dead trees just come jetting out the cliffs and area around the crater. A couple even line up with the Milky Way at a good time, and with the weather finally cooperating, I think its going to be a good night.
So many people marvel at the Oregon coast and I'm sure its beautiful and I will get to see it soon, but Crater Lake is a stop everyone should have on their list.Thoughts from the Road:So Blue!!!!Music from the Road:Widespread Panic, The Record Company, Civil WarsPhotos from the road:
